Our Story

Little Lunch Bags is the perfect example of how a small group of people on a local level can make a tremendous impact, one small act at a time. Learn about how we got started and the things that continue to keep us moving.

Our Beginning

Little Lunch Bags began in April 2022 in a Fresno, CA home by 5 year old Maleah and her mother Donetta. While riding in the car Maleah saw a homeless man walking down the street and said “Mommy I wish I could help him!” After having trouble finding kid friendly events to give back, we decided to take it upon ourselves and create our own experience. We went to our local grocery store and bought enough food to prepare 10 lunches. We hit the streets up Shaw Ave. and made our way down Blackstone Ave. looking for anyone that could use a meal. We smiled when asking people if they were hungry. We acknowledged their humanity, as well as our own. When we were done, we felt amazing and wanted to share with our friends and family! So we did just that. We shared on our social media platforms.

Riding the high of our good deeds, we decided to repeat a month later in May 2022. More of our family joined, more meals were made, and more people were fed. Once again, we felt amazing and once again , we shared. We set another goal and hosted another event in July 2022, going from 10 lunches to 60 lunches. We added love notes of encouragement to each meal to further acknowledge those we were feeding, reminding them that they weren’t forgotten.

The movement is quickly growing into a wave, we host events the first and last Sunday of the month in Fresno, CA. Our rapid growth led to the formation of the Little Lunch Bags Foundation, a registered 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization that empowers humanity with the tools to create and benefit from organized acts of love.
